What to Expect After Initial Contact:
- Once your request for services has been received, a member of our team will contact you to gather additional information and begin scheduling your appointment for psychotherapy, psychological testing, or neuropsychological evaluation.
After speaking with a WestArbor Psychological Services provider, you will receive an email with a secure link to our client portal. Using this link, you can create your account and sign in.
Within the client portal, you will find intake forms and introductory documents required prior to your first appointment. Many forms can be completed and electronically signed directly in the portal, while others may need to be uploaded. If you experience any technical difficulties, your provider will be available to assist you.
If you plan to use health insurance for therapy or psychological testing services, please upload clear images of the front and back of your insurance card(s) to the portal.
We strongly encourage all new clients to contact their insurance provider in advance to verify mental health benefits, including coverage for psychotherapy and psychological or neuropsychological testing.

What services do you offer?
We provide psychotherapy (therapy) and psychological and neuropsychological testing for children (age 6+), adolescents, adults, and older adults. Our clinicians treat a wide range of mental health, emotional, behavioral, and cognitive concerns and can help determine the best provider fit or offer referrals if needed.
Do you offer autism evaluations?
No, at this time we do not offer diagnostic testing for autism spectrum disorders.
Do you conduct court-ordered evaluations?
No, our practice does not conduct court-ordered psychological assessment.
Do your clinicians prescribe medication?
No. As licensed psychologists, therapists, and social workers, we do not prescribe medication.
However, we can collaborate with your psychiatrist or primary care provider. For medication management, we recommend consulting your primary care physician or a psychiatry provider such as Huron River Psychiatry.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is required. Many clients self-refer, though some insurance plans may require prior authorization for select procedures like testing.
We encourage new clients to contact their insurance provider to confirm your benefits.
Do you offer in-person and telehealth appointments?
Yes. We offer in-person therapy and testing in Ann Arbor, MI and secure telehealth services for clients located in Michigan.
Some evaluations must be completed in person. Your provider will help determine the best format for your care taking into consideration your needs and preferences.
Select clinicians hold licenses in multiple states. Please contact individual clinicians or our main phone number to inquire about telehealth service availability for clients outside of Michigan.
How do telehealth appointments work?
You will receive a secure link via email or text on the day of your appointment (select your preference within our client portal). If using a computer, simply click the link at your scheduled time. If you do not receive it, contact your provider.
Do I need a computer for telehealth?
No. You can use a smartphone, tablet or computer for virtual appointments. Smartphone or tablet users should download the Telehealth by SimplePractice app via the App Store or Google Play and follow directions there before the appointment begins.
Where is your office located?
The main WestArbor Psychological Services office is located in the lower level of the Liberty Office Center at 3700 W. Liberty Rd., Ann Arbor, MI.
Helpful hints:
- The building is located between S. Zeeb and Wagner Roads. On your left if coming from Zeeb, on your right if coming from Wagner.
- Look for a one-story gray brick building with dark green trim with a large green & white sign marking the driveway.
- The office complex at the Corner of W. Liberty/Wagner (next door) looks similar, but has blue trim.
- Clients pay park on either side of the building.
- From the front, enter via stairs (outside the building) marked with WestArbor signage or use the central ground level entrance (marked East entrance) and use stairs or the elevator at the rear of the building.
- From the back, enter the rear door and take the stairs down. Follow signs to our office. The elevator is not accessible from the rear door.
- If it is your first time accessing our office via elevator, please let your clinician know, and they may assist you (it can be difficult to use).
When you arrive, please have a seat in our waiting area and your clinician will get you at the time of your appointment. There is ample space and seating to accomodate multiple people attending an appointment together and/or mobility devices. There is also an available desk for use as needed.
*Dr. Axelrod conducts evaluations from a separate office located at 2350 Washtenaw Avenue, Suite 7F Ann Arbor, MI 48104.
How much do services cost?
How will I be billed?
How are payments handled?
Please see our current listing of fees for services. You may also wish to reach out to our office or an individual clinician to discuss which services would be appropriate for you in order to more accurately estimate charges. Upon request, your clinician can generate a "good faith estimate" outlining expected fees.
We work with a billing service (Michelle's Billing Service) to ensure accurate and efficient billing and payment processing. They will submit charges to your insurance company on your behalf.
If you are not using insurance or have expenses that are not covered by insurances, you will receive a statement showing your balance in the mail. After first receipt of a paper statement, you can opt into electronic statements if desired.
Payments can be made via personal check or credit card (including HSA). Credit card payments can be made via our secure payment portal at
