In addition to his educational and professional qualifications, Dennis brings a rich history of “real world” experiences to the table (or chair, in this case). He has successfully been a husband, father, educator, athlete, coach, business owner, and good friend.
Dennis has worked as a psychologist in Washtenaw County for over 20 years. He was a psychologist working for and consulting with the public schools in 4 different school districts. He also maintained a private practice, since 1987, working primarily with adolescents and their families, including parenting issues. He also has extensive experience working with adults, including relationship/couples counseling.
Dennis obtained a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and a Specialist of Arts degree from Eastern Michigan University.
Dennis is currently licensed by the State as an LLP, and works under the supervision of Dr. Dan Nolan.
Dennis' Personal Statement:
First of all, I truly enjoy my work! I find that helping people realize their goals and reducing their discomfort or anguish in their lives is incredibly gratifying for me. If you are motivated to change, I am confident that I can help you facilitate that change. Usually at the end of our first session I will let you know if I think I can be of help and if not, I will try to refer you to someone who I think would be a better match for your issues.
Although I use many strategies in my work, I have found that the Cognitive-Behavioral approach is the best fit for my therapeutic style. In this approach the focus is on the present, future, and problem solving. I use a holistic approach to therapy, combining an easy going style with a knowledge of what seems to work with the issues that my clients present. I often use books, articles, and movies to aid in the dialogue of therapy and change. Most clients report that they look forward to their sessions.
Dennis is in-network with Aetna, BCBS, BCN, Blue Cross Complete, Priority Health, Meridian, & Medicare. If you have questions about insurance coverage, please contact your insurance provider before initiating psychological services..
